Pancake Day
What is Pancake Day?
Pancake Day marks the day before the start of the Christian festival of Lent when people would traditionally use up the ingredients in their store cupboard and make pancakes before getting ready for the six-week fast. During Lent, they would not be allowed to eat rich foods.
One of the forbidden foods was eggs, which are one of the main ingredients for pancakes.
